New features:
- Health status. The GTM System Status page provides a convenient and efficient method to learn about GTM operational issues. Its purpose is to complement Service Incident Notifications available on Akamai Community.
- Service Binding record types. New HTTPS and SVCB DNS resource record types provide clients with key information about connections to network services from multiple, alternative locations or endpoints. These new record types also enable alias capability at the domain apex, a long-standing challenge for the Internet.
- Menu improvements. The Akamai Control Center menu explicitly supports Global Traffic Management functions.
2020-07-17
New features:
- Akamai Terraform CLI configuration imports. Provides Bootstrap Terraform configuration files from existing GTM Domains and Properties.
- Concurrency optimizations. Provides API performance improvements for concurrent update transactions.
- Static Property Type. New GTM Property Type that enables static record types that behave as an Edge DNS Zone as part of a GTM Domain.
- Liveness workflow improvement. Enables you to run new Liveness tests without first saving to the Change List, thereby providing a simpler workflow.

New features:
Liveness tests with many headers. You can define multiple HTTP headers for any HTTP(S) liveness test configuration using the API and user interface.
Disable liveness tests. You can use the API or a checkbox in the user interface to disable a liveness test, which directs the GTM service to cease running the test and effectively treat the test as no longer existing.
Static property types. You can use the API to configure static answers, such as an A record value for GTM properties, to deliver static record responses.
Apex properties. You can configure properties at the apex record of a domain, which eliminates the need to create a subdomain of a GTM domain with only one property. The API and user interface display the apex record with an @ symbol.
Terraform Provider. You can use Terraform Provider to minimize the activity required to manage and configure GTM domains and properties.

New features:
New UI ergonomics. Uses Akamai’s new reporting framework.
Improved SLA workflow. Enables you to easily monitor SLA service availability and align with SLA terms.
GTM CLI. Enables a GTM CLI package for the Akamai CLI client.

Global Traffic Management is General Availability
Global Traffic Management (GTM) is designed to enable Internet users to access their websites or any other IP application quickly and reliably. GTM applies an Internet-centric approach to global load balancing to provide high-site availability and responsiveness to online user requests. Unlike traditional hardware-based solutions that reside within the data center, Akamai’s Global Traffic Management service is a fault-tolerant solution that makes intelligent routing decisions based on real-time data center performance health and global Internet conditions to route online user requests to the most appropriate data center using an optimized Internet route for that user at that moment. Additional capabilities include:
Battle tested. Routes and manages traffic for some of the world’s largest distributed user audiences.
Massive scale. Provides the scale to absorb the largest DDoS attacks targeting the DNS infrastructure.
Roles and permissions. Provides configuration access controls to limit who can view and edit configurations.
Total Solution. Provides capabilities such as ASN, CIDR and geographic mapping, IP version selection, load feedback, mirror failover, weighted random distribution, and policy chaining.
