Configuring an Amazon EC2 Account to Use CloudTest
A prerequisite for using CloudTest's public cloud capabilities is to have an account with the Amazon Elastic Cloud Compute (EC2) Service. Once an EC2 account is established, use the AWS Management Console. Before proceeding with the Cloud Provider Accounts section below, ensure that the following information is available:
- Creating an Elastic IP address
As the Amazon EC2 documentation explains, “Elastic IP addresses are static IP addresses designed for dynamic cloud computing. An Elastic IP address is associated with your account, not a particular instance.” Refer to the Using Instance IP Addresses chapter of the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud User Guide.
- Setting up a Security Group
CloudTest Pro requires the use of a security group. Some customers may use the default security group while others will create a new security group. When customers create security groups the naming of the group must be the same across all geographies. So if you create a security group called "CloudTest" in US East you must name the security group "CloudTest" in US West and US Japan and/or any regions you plan to use with CloudTest.
The Security Group being used must allow inbound for range 0.0.0.0/0 access for ports 80, 443, 8443. 0-65535 must also be open to the range of the security group, meaning you will need to delete 0.0.0.0/0 for the range field and enter the security group (either default or the one you created for CloudTest). Security group settings can be managed in the AWS Management Console, under "Network & Security" -> "Security Groups".

Note This process must be repeated for each EC2 region that you plan to use.
