Alias zone example

The following example is displayed in standard BIND zone format.

The base zone “example-base-zone.com” has the following resource records:

www.example-base-zone.com 7200 IN A 192.0.2.1
www.example-base-zone.com 7200 IN AAAA ::1
store.example-base-zone.com 7200 IN CNAME store.example-base-zone.com.edgesuite.net.

“example-alias-zone.com” is configured as an alias of “www.example-base-zone.com.” Any time a DNS request asks for resolution of a resource record in the alias zone, Edge DNS will answer with the resource records specified in the base zone, as if the alias zone had the same resource records as the base zone.

www.example-alias-zone.com 7200 IN A 192.0.2.1
www.example-alias-zone.com 7200 IN AAAA ::1
www.example-alias-zone.com 7200 IN CNAME store.example-base-zone.com.edgesuite.net.

Any time a change is made to the base zone’s resource records, all the aliases of that zone will reflect the same change.
