Configure DNS forwarders

After deploying configuration changes, configure your local DNS server or Active Directory server to forward DNS queries to ETP.

Typically, you configure these "forwarders" where you manage DNS. You must provide the IP address or addresses of the ETP DNS servers.

Depending on your company's DNS setup, the following applies:

  • On a Windows server, DNS management is available as an Administrative Tool in the Control Panel. When accessing the DNS management tool, you edit the Forwarders setting to include the ETP IP addresses.
  • If you are using BIND software, you modify the named.conf.options file with the ETP IP addresses.
  • If you are using Infoblox, you enter the ETP IP addresses in the DNS forwarders settings.
  • If you want to use a Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) or Secure Web Gateway (SWG) product to configure a DNS proxy, in the DNS proxy or server settings, enter the ETP IP addresses.

For specific instructions, see the Enterprise Threat Protector online help or the user documentation for the products you use.
