Sharing Features

A social share can contain the following features, depending on what each identity provider supports for each sharing method. These features can be set on a per provider basis using the providerFormats setting:

  • Message – The comment that will be pre-populated into the sharing message text box; may be replaced with user-generated content.
  • Title – The title/subject of the shared content.
  • Description – The description of the shared content.
  • URL – The link associated with the shared content.
  • Image – Image associated with the shared content.
  • Media – Additional media such as video or audio files associated with the shared content.
  • ActionLink – A link that appears below the user-generated message and content fields. In the case of Facebook, this link appears next to the “Like” and “Comment” links.

Twitter Cards

Social sharing supports Twitter Cards. When Twitter Card code is enabled on a site, a share via Twitter will include the Twitter Card metadata, which will display expanded information such as title, summary, or image data.
