Akamai OTT encoder qualification - optional and mandatory features
Akamai requires and qualifies the following settings and behavior for encoders to inter-operate with the Akamai ingest and transcoding clouds.
Akamai supports only Apple HLS as the ingesting format for a stream. However, this does not limit Akamai’s ability to transcode and package in other supported formats such as DASH.
Apart from the existing requirements, the following table lists the mandatory and optional features for Akamai OTT qualified encoders. Click the link for detailed information.
|Mandatory features||Optional features|
|Translate SCTE-104 to SCTE-35 in TS||Support one-second segment duration|
|Support SCTE-35 TS to HLS/DASH/Adobe Primetime||Support I-frame playlists|
|Support HTTP headers with 64-bit UTC time|
|Publish acquired source time stamp in the HTTP header format|
