Edit a stream

You can make changes to your stream parameters (excluding the configuration) as follows.

How to

  1. From the Media Services Live Provisioning Dashboard, select a stream and click Edit.
    The Edit Stream page appears.
  2. You can change the following fields:
    • Stream Name
    • DVR Settings
Note: If you change your DVR settings and intend to continue using the event name in your encoder, you must delete any old archives associated with it to ensure that older DVR content does not play back when the stream is not live and DVR is disabled. It is highly recommended to use a new event name.
    • Primary Encoder IP field in the Encoder Details area
Note: If your encoder is behind a firewall or another barrier, you can use the firewall’s IP address here. This is called a ping proxy.
    • Backup Encoder IP / Ping Proxy field in the Encoder Details area.
  3. Click the Test buttons following the Primary Encoder IP and Backup Encoder IP / Ping Proxy fields.
Before proceeding, you should successfully test the encoder IP address entries, regardless of whether you changed them or not. This allows Media Services Live to determine the best-performing entry point for your event.
  4. Type a password for your encoder to access to the entry points in Password field of the Encoder Details area. If you would like Media Services Live to create a random password for you, leave this entry blank.
Passwords can be made up of any character type, but must be no more than ten (10) characters in length.
  5. In the Stream End Date (Optional) field, enter the date on which you expect your live streaming event to end, if you want (alternatively, you can click the calendar icon to display a calendar from which you select a date).
  6. In the Password field, type a new password for your encoder to access to the entry points.
Passwords can be of any character type, but must be no more than 10 characters in length.
  7. From the Primary Contact and Secondary Contact drop-down menus, select new people in your organization to contact regarding entry point availability issues (contacts are required).
  8. Save your changes. A dialog box appears asking you to verify the correctness of the configuration information. If all is correct, click OK. A message appears confirming the stream’s modification. Clicking All Streams returns you to the Media Services Live Provisioning Dashboard.
