NetStorage connection timeout

Your NetStorage connection will time out after approximately 15 minutes of inactivity. For example, no data transfers or file browsing.

If you must leave WinSCP idle and connected for longer than 15 minutes, you can override the timeout by configuring Keepalives in the WinSCP client.

Configure a WinSCP keepalive

Prior to logging in, edit your advanced connection settings. From the Advanced Site Settings module:

  1. Click Connection from the tree panel.
  2. Select the Executing dummy protocol commands radio button in the Keepalives area.
    1. Enter 99 in the Seconds between keepalives spin box.
Note: The SFTP timeout is intended to help reduce load on the NetStorage server. It's not recommended to enable Keepalive unless absolutely necessary.
