Renaming a file

To rename a file, set the complete path and filename of the target file as the “<SOURCE>” variable, and include the desired path and new filename as the “<DESTINATION>” variable. The path set within the “<DESTINATION>” variable can either be the existing path, to keep the file in the same directory; or a new path, in order to also move the renamed file.

mv <OPTION>... <SOURCE> <DESTINATION>

Example

In this example, the file is renamed and kept in the same directory:

mv -i /123456/test/movie.mp4 /123456/test/movie_old.mp4
