Managing alerts

Web Security Analytics allows you to create alerts based on your specified filters and thresholds. You can create, change, enable, disable, clone, and delete alerts as you like.

There are two ways to create an alert:
  • Manually, using your own parameters.
  • From a predefined template.
Templates are configured for particular scenarios and represent Akamai’s best practices for each. Using templates doesn’t eliminate the need for tuning, however, and you still must tune the alerts to achieve optimal performance.

Whenever you create a new alert or make changes to an existing alert, you can enter comments that describe your action. The comments are visible in the configuration events and can help you understand who created or changed the alert and why.

Once you create or change an alert, it takes up to 10 minutes for the changes to propagate and for alert processing to begin. Changing an active alert deactivates the alert and causes a reevaluation of its trigger conditions according to the updated settings.
